About Melissa

When I was little, my mother would most often find me sitting in the shade of a maple tree instead of playing in the sun with the other children. I would busy myself with an art project, a book, or a journal. My mom would always chuckle and call me her little Shadeflower. I have since come to enjoy the sun, but still find myself in the shade when I need creativity to blossom.

When I started my own business, I wondered what it was that would set me apart from the rest of the market. Afterall, there are so many talented people out there, what made me so special? After some thought, I realized the answer was simple: My imagination. My dreams. My roots. The essence of me.

Today Shadeflower Studios LLC encompasses all that is creative in me. I have made a career in graphic design, though I have felt called to also explore the spiritual side of myself and find a way to offer my gifts to others.  

I have always been intuitive. Since childhood, I had frequent “visits” from spiritual entities and experienced lucid dreams, much of which I did not understand then. 

I feel very drawn to my ancestral history, and in 2018 wrote a book about my family origins. The experience was magical in many ways. I felt the frequent accompaniment of my Spirit Guides and Ancestors guiding my path and realized I was channeling in my writing. Channeling via written word is one of the powerful tools I use in my Tarot readings as well. 

My specialties include communicating with guides, ghosts, Tarot, crystal healing, and herbology. I also love painting with acrylics and watercolors, sketching, hand embroidery, photography, reading, word games, camping, and rock hunting. I find that my creative and intuitive qualities overlap and cannot thrive without the other. I wish to share those creative pieces, in hopes that it will inspire and nourish others, too.
